Ira B. Liss first formed the Big Band Jazz Machine in 1979 as a vehicle for students in Southern California - especially in the San Diego area – to polish up their skills. Now he produces and conducts his 6th recording, and the sound and the verve just heighten! As Ira has stated, “The band is the sum of its parts, and every chair is important. Big bands need a creative vision to push the music forward, and I like a lot of variety.”

And variety is what Ira and his ensemble deliver – a collection of new and standard tunes – Gimmie That, High Wire, Keys to the City, Love You Madly, Bass: The Final Frontier, You’d Better Love Me While You May, Mazel Tov Kocktail, I Wish You Love, Springtime, Joy Spring, West Wings, and Where Or When.

High energy and fully pleasing, this recording is a keeper. Grady Harp
