Janet Hammer 


Janet’s music career is multifaceted. She actively performs at various venues throughout Southern California performing in small combos and with bands including The Mar Dels, Storey Lines, and her own bands, Rhythm Express and Sweethearts of Swing, and of course, the Ira Liss Big Band Jazz Machine. She is the music director of the Unity Center where she leads her band, Soul Notes, with guest vocalists, and directs an occasional choir.  For the holiday season, she runs her Christmas caroling company - The Full Measure Carolers.  Since its inception in 1989, it has grown from one quartet to over 15 quartets booking over 200 gigs during the season. She teaches classes at Palomar College in vocal technique and leads the vocal jazz ensemble, Spectrum Singers, as well as having private students. She has performed on several worldwide tours and has opened for such name acts as the Pointer Sisters, the Platters, and has worked with musicians from groups including Maynard Ferguson, Natalie Cole, and the Righteous Brothers to name a few.  She has recorded several CDs of her own as well as radio jingles and studio work for many projects.
